Part of the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay is Holland America's private island. It is 2.5 miles long by 1.5 miles wide and it is a tender port. It is also known as " Little San Salvador Island." With its crescent-shaped white-sand beaches and turquoise lagoon it offers a variety of water activities including swimming, sunbathing, relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, and water biking. They have shops and eateries and a large barbecue. Most of the food on the island is free to guests. There is also a large part of the island that is untouched nature. I signed up for the "Historic Nature Walk," and while it had the same name as my last year's excursion here, it was a very different itinerary and was more strenuous and hazardous than I expected: the first excursion ever that made me sign a waiver should have clued me in. Pictures from the tour are prefixed with (T).
