I love how Florida lines it's major thoroughfares on the sides and down the middle with palm trees.

Several neighborhoods along East Olas Blvd have an automobile road in front of the house and a canal in the back.(Top 2 Pics) The automobile roads all begin with a hump to bridge over the perpendicular waterway that connects all the canals,(Bottom Left Pic) and the entire canal system is part of the Intracoastal Waterway system which provides access to the ocean from the residence. Many businesses such as restaurants and hotels are also along this waterway,(Bottom Right Pic) so residents can boat over to them rather than drive.

A couple blocks after crossing the drawbridge, on the corner of East Las Olas Blvd and Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd (SR A1A) is "The MKT at Las Olas Oceanside Park", a large open market that has a variety of homemade/handmade fare ranging from fresh produce/fruit to global flavors, made-to-order foods, street musicians, and unique items to wear and decorate your home. Open every weekend, year round!

Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd has a scenic coastal route with the beach on one side and a variety of sights, activities, and dining options on the other side.

At the opposite end of East Las Olas Blvd, near my hotel, was the downtown area. As it was Sunday morning when I took these pics on my way to the grocery store, it was pretty quiet.
